What We Believe
A Faith Rooted in Love
As a congregation of the United Church of Christ, we share a faith that is rooted in the love of God, revealed in Jesus Christ, and renewed by the Spirit. We are not bound by rigid creeds or narrow doctrines; rather, we embrace a living faith that grows as God continues to speak in the world today.
Our Core Beliefs
- God is still speaking. We believe God’s word and presence are alive, active, and guiding us in this moment.
- Every person is beloved. Each person is made in the image of God and has sacred worth, regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith background, or life circumstance.
- Baptism and Communion are for all. In baptism, we celebrate God’s claim on each life. At Christ’s table, all are welcome — no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey.
- Faith calls us to action. We believe that following Jesus means caring for our neighbors, working for justice, and practicing compassion in all we do.
Our Open and Affirming Covenant
We are an Open and Affirming congregation. In our own words:
Jesus accepts all people.
We aspire to follow his example.
We gladly invite and welcome all persons into the life and ministry of this faith community and to full participation in all the sacraments and rites of this church.
Since we believe that all people are created in the image of God and are loved by God, we welcome those of every age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, faith background, national or ethnic origin, physical and mental ability, kind of family, socioeconomic status, and physical appearance.
Seeking justice for everyone, we promise to offer intentional and extravagant welcome to all God’s children.
The United Church of Christ Tradition
Our wider denomination offers these guiding affirmations:
We believe in the Triune God — Creator, Christ, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that all baptized believers belong body and soul to Jesus Christ.
We believe the church is called to be united and uniting, welcoming all in love.
We believe Jesus and justice cannot be separated — faith leads us to serve, liberate, and heal.
